    A sitemap is basically a single page which maps out all the pages that appear on a website. This map will link to each page and be categorised by sections and subsections. The Sitemaps Protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. This is one of the basic elements of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) which many companies charge excess fees to implement. XML sitemaps are auto generated when new pages are created in the MODx system, you have the choice not to display the pages in the sitemap.
